How To Title Sequence Case Study

The objective of this project was to design and animate a 15 second title sequence using adobe after effects. Before jumping into the project I began to watch title sequences for inspiration. I found that Saul Bass used a lot of minimalist design in his sequences and this was something I wanted to incorporate in my project.

I began to storyboard a rough outline of what exactly I wanted to with my title sequence. Since we had to include three different titles and the name, split mine up into four different animations to prevent the repetitiveness most sequences had.

After Effects:

Once I knew what I wanted to do it was time to execute. For this project it meant bringing my ideas into after effects, which is a 2D animation program used for special effects and sequences like mine. I designed all the pieces for the project in Adobe Illustrator, a vector based design software, and imported them into after effects to begin the animation process.

Sound Effects:

I searched through libraries of sound effects and music loops to find files that could bring my animation to life.

Once finished adding the final touches to the file, I rendered the animation as a movie file.
