The objective of this project was to create a personal brand for yourself as a designer. I used Adobe illustrator to design my logo.
I began to first look at other designers personal logos to see what worked, what didn’t, and how well it was executed. Once I have an inspiration in me I basically take all of the ideas in my head and put them paper while they are are still fresh. I wanted to incorporate my knack minimalist design style with a unique geometrical connection of my first and last initial into my logo.
Now that I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, I moved to the computer, turning all those rough sketches into actual vector based designs. Steering away from a few different ideas that weren’t so appealing when made digital, I began to push towards connecting the V and G side by side using square lettering I designed from scratch.
For a while I was content with my personal logo but then I thought about how bulky it was and how much more potential the VG had if I continued to rework it. I moved on from my first idea and began to work with a new more minimalistic approach involving circular typefaces. I came up with a variety of new concepts involving this new approach to my personal logo still sticking with the same black, white, and cyan color scheme.
Finally after a lot of reworking I came up with logo that I was both happy with and proud of, which was a major upgrade from my original concept.
